ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½tv had a record-breaking 15 nominations from the Lone Star Emmy® Educational Foundation for Student Production Awards. The student-run television station on the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Broadway campus strives to bring the campus community news, entertainment and sports from around the University.

In 2019, ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½tv received one nomination. In 2020, the program earned three nominations and received two awards. It had nine nominations and won five awards in 2021.

The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½tv officers and the faculty advisor work together to select videos to submit, based on the categories available. Once the videos are selected and uploaded to an online database, they are selected for nomination. Professional judges then select the award winners.

Markus McGuire, ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½tv assistant operations director, is excited for the future of ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½tv. As assistant director, he played an important role in the release of Cardinal Nights Season 2, Ep. 2, a talk-show style video that was nominated for an award in the category college - arts and entertainment/cultural affairs. Following Bocanegra’s graduation in December, McGuire will assume the role of operations director.

“To have our hard work recognized is very rewarding,” shared McGuire. “I have put in a lot of work volunteering at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½tv to try and learn all that I can. Being nominated just goes to show that all the time spent working with ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½tv has paid off. I am very excited and can't wait for what is next.”

“ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½tv officers, volunteers, and reporters/anchors, have put in a great deal of hard work and dedication into the program, and that is being reflected in these nominations,” added Bocanegra. “We may have a small team compared to other programs, but we have been able to work together to produce wonderful content for our Cardinal community.”
